Quick Information: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released notification for 18th edition of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)-January 2024 on 02 November 2023. The written exam will be conducted in 135 cities and twenty languages on 21 January 2024 (Sunday). Online form can be submitted from 03 to 27 November 2023 through official website ctet.nic.in. Important dates:

  • Online Application dates and fee payment: 03.11.2023 to 27.11.2023 up to 11:59 PM (extended date)
  • Admit card release date : likely in 1st week of January 2024
  • Exam Date: 21 January, 2024 (Paper 2: 09:30 AM to 12:00 PM, Paper 1: 02:00 PM to 04:30 PM)

CTET Eligibility Criteria

The candidates having the following minimum educational qualification are eligible for appearing in CTET.

Minimum Educational Qualifications for becoming Teacher for Classes I-V (Primary Stage)

1. 12th / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
OR
2. 12th class (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed, in accordance with NCTE Regulations, 2002.
OR
3. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed..
OR
4. Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year D.Ed. (Special Education)*.
OR
5. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed.

Minimum Educational Qualification for becoming Teacher for Classes VI-VIII Elementary Stage

1. Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year D.El.Ed. (by whatever name known).
OR
2. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
OR
3. Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed.
OR
4. 12th (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.El.Ed..
OR
5. 12th (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed/B.Sc.Ed.
OR
6. Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*

CTET Exam fee (category-wise):

  • General/OBC(NCL): Rs. 1000 for only paper 1 or II, Rs. 1200 for both papers
  • SC/ST/DA Person: Rs. 500 for only paper 1 or II, Rs. 600 for both papers
  • GST will be charged extra.

Process of submitting CTET Online form 2024:

Eligible candidates need to log on to CTET official web site https://ctet.nic.in and click on link “Apply Online”. Then they should fill in the Online Form with all correct personal details i.e. names, mobile no., Email, address with pin code etc..
After submission of details, a Registration No./Application No. will be generated by the website which they should note down. Then they have to upload their latest Scanned Photograph and Signature on the website and then proceed to payment of examination fee which can be paid by debit/credit card and net banking. Size of Photo / Sign to be Uploaded in CTET online form 2024

It is mandatory for all applicants to upload scanned Photo and Signature in the application form in JPG/JPEG format.
Scanned photograph should be between 10 to 100 KB with Image Dimensions: 3.5cm (width) x 4.5cm (height). This photograph will be matched with the actual candidate when they are going to appearing in the examination.
Scanned signature should be between 3 to 30 KB and its Image Dimensions should be 3.5cm (length) x 1.5cm (height).

CTET Exam Pattern:

There will be two papers of objective type. Both papers will have 150 questions each of one mark. Duration of these papers will be 2 hours 30 minutes and no negative marking will be done.
  • Paper I (Primary Stage) for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V.
  • Paper II (Elementary Stage) for a person who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII

Is the hard copy of CTET confirmation page is to be sent ?

No, It is not required.

Is examination fee refundable ?

No, fee is non-refundable.

What are the modes of fee payment ?

Fee can only be paid by online modes (credit/debit card/ Net banking). Other modes like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. are not accepted.

What is the validity of CTET certificate ?

The validity is lifetime for all categories.

Is there any restriction on the number of attempts in CTET ?

No, there is no such restriction. Even a CTET qualified candidate can appear to improve his/her score.

How will I get CTET marksheet or certificate ? 

CBSE will provide marksheet and eligibility certificates to successful candidates in their DigiLocker account with an encrypted QR code. They will be digitally signed and legally valid.
